About James Knight

James Knight serves as a virtual production director for AMD in Los Angeles, California, where he manages all forms of media management and maintains relationships with numerous entertainment studios, such as Universal and Warner Bros. He possesses over a decade of experience in the film industry, and has obtained considerable recognition for groundbreaking work on James Cameron’s 2009 film Avatar. During Avatar’s lengthy production schedule and filming, James Knight worked with a talented and technical team to overcome the limitations of the MotionBuilder software and develop new CGI techniques to meet the film’s specific requirements.

His involvement in the industry includes working with the production teams for a number of blockbuster films, and providing performance capture, shot delivery, and motion edit assistance. Films he completed production work for include The Amazing Spiderman (2012), Hereafter (2010), Marvel’s The Incredible Hulk (2008), and I AM Legend (2007). He has also delivered lectures on motion capture as a keynote speaker for the Conference on Visual Media Production. Early in his career, he coordinated post production of multiple indie projects and pioneered new techniques for DVD menu creation.

Additionally, Knight belongs to a number of film industry organizations, such as the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), the Visual Effects Society and is a member of the Scientific and Technical Achievement Committee at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
